Write the Vision, Make it plain

About four years ago, I was sitting on the floor of my small one bedroom apartment taking account of things that happened in my life.  Some things were good, and some had me going, "what the hell was I thinking?"  I had seen myself go from being married at the age of 26 to being divorced at 31.  I was an author of two novels which only put my name out there but I wasn't on the New York Times Bestseller's list, truth be told I couldn't even crack the top 1000 seller's list on Amazon.  I was single, I was miserable, I was disgusted with the person I had become.  I was the one who always inspired others but I wasn't motivated enough to inspire myself.  I sank into a small depression and for a year, I had very limited communication with people outside of work.

One day I had a talk with the woman in the mirror. The only person holding me back was me.  I had been blessed with a tremendous talent, I was fortunate to be employed with a company that gave me access, why was I not fulfilled?  So I sat down and wrote my feelings and I remember my mom sharing a very important biblical verse to me.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 says, And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables that he may run that readeth it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:  though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  So four years ago, I wrote down the following:

1.     Have a writing career that will inspire the lives of others that will in turn have a substantial financial
impact on me, my family, and my church.

2.     Have a blessed marriage with a man whom God chooses for me.

3.     Be blessed with a mentally and physically happy child or children.

4.    Have a wonderful and affordable home filled with God's loving presence, peace, and open space.

5.    Be a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show talking about a movie based on my book.

6.    Traveling the world with my husband and child(ren) without worrying about cost.

7.    Becoming a guest lecturer of creative writing at University level.

8.    Being an active member in my church.

9.    Becoming more extroverted and less worried about what others think of me.

10.  Living a life that God wants me to live that will be a blessing to my child(ren) and their off-spring.

11.  Only flying one to two trips or just enough hours to keep my insurance and flight benefits.

12.  Starting a ministry for those who have a creative vision but just can't seem to get started on the right
       path.

Since then only 3 of the following have been fulfilled.  The others will come at their appointed time.  In September, 2010 I launched my own healthy beverage business.  I know in order for it to be successful I must command God's words to speak on my behalf.  My vision is that my company, "galliencafe" thrives and become a multi-million dollar company.  This will come become I have the faith and God's word says, "wait, because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

This is my season and I believe God presents you with one opportunity in order for you to achieve what His purpose is for you.  All you have to do is write it down.

  2. Hello Laylasmom, I typed in "Write the vision, make it plan", in my search engine and your blogspot came up as a choice. Your title, "Whatever comes to mind...", caught my attention. Also, in your list of things you wanted to accomplish, the ministry about those having a creative vision, but who just didn't know how to get started on the right path stood out to me. I share many of the same things you had on your list and wonder why is it we don't write down the things that come to mind. I am still working on my list. Maybe we will get to meet one day. Thanks anyway, for being an inspiration.

  3. Almost two years after you wrote this entry, I stumbled upon it using the same Google search terms that Eugene (just above my response) did. Thanks for writing it. I woke up early this morning having quite the pity party... and along with some choice scripture that I found this morning, you reminded me of one thing: I am not done yet. God is definitely not done. Thank you. I needed that!

  5. Dear Laylasmom,

On my drive in to work this morning, it was as if the spirit of God spoke to me and reminded me of the verse that our respective mothers shared with us. So, too, I searched for the verse and came across your blog. You are certainly on your way to "Having a writing career that will inspired the lives of others..." for after reading this, I feel a stirring within my soul... Thank you and God bless!

  7. This is a wonderful Word for me. I put my 11 yr. old granddaughter's name on the flyer for my 60th birthday celebration. Her parents (my son and his baby mama) are so far not allowing her to come and play the piano for me. They got all shook up when I put her name on the flyer. I told them that God said to write the vision. If it is the will of God that she be there, she will. If it is not the will of God for her to be there, she won't. Case closed.

  13. Amen...this just ministered to my heart and I now it is a confirmation because the same message was just preached at my church last Friday. So, I wrote the vision, prayed over it & now I'm waiting to see the manifestation of the Lord! Be encouraged all and hold on!

  15. Hello, I stumbled upon this blog post in the same way as everyone else. Google search. My dad quoted "write it down and make it plain" so I wanted to see exactly what it said in the bible and I found this.

I'm a 22 year old photo editor, graphic designer/photographer. The last 10 weeks have been the most amazing and successful weeks of my young career. I made an investment in myself to accept an invite to photograph a model awards show in Atlanta back in August. I made so many con eating and now instead of editing for Instagram, I am editing for magazines. I would have never imagined that I could break free of the traditional path and live my dreams so early!

Glory to God because he spoke to my heart and guided me to make the right decisions. I wrote my vision down on October 9th 2014 when my daughter was born. I received an inquiry to completely edit an independent magazine called Xkluziv Magazine a week later. I just finished and released it on November 1st.

It started by writing it down and having faith. I didn't miss my opportunity. I seized it.

I hope all is well with you and everyone else who has posted here!

    God Bless,

  19. God put in my spirit to write the vision and make it plain. I just recently moved to Texas , following God. I was doing great , but I know he did not bring me 600 miles to be in the same state of mind I was in Memphis. Bishop Jakes just preached that God saif if you take it, he will give it too you. If you put your foot on it , he will transfer it. Thank you I now know what I need to do to step into the purpose God has for me.

Thank you for being a Blessing

  20. It is no accident that all of us have found this write up. If you are reading this then you have found this by Gods purpose as well. It just so happens that my daughters name is Laila as well, so my wife is "Laila's mom" too! That is confirmation that I was supposed to find this today. I believe the LORD is going to make it plain what he is speaking to me and this post is the beginning of that. Thank you for being transparent and I bless every endeavor written in your vision and pray that the LORD will provide every open door and resource to see it come to pass in His timing. God bless you!

  25. Thanks for your inspiration, one of the things you said was, we have to command God's Word and His blessings over our life. That was profound to me! The Will of the Lord is not automatic because we know Him, He want's us to cooperate and participate with Him by releasing the Words and the Authority He has given us. In other words, He spoke and everything that He said became into existence. He gave us the same creative power with His Word so that when we speak it, it too will happen for us when done in faith. Again, thank you for sharing and being an inspiration!

  27. Thank God for your test and your testimony. I too have been going through a season of transition and during this season of transition my only daughter has stop talking to me and won't tell me why. During the past year she became pregnant and has become a mother at age 20. She did not tell me all my family that she was having a baby all to keep the baby's father. .who wants nothing to do with her. At the present time she's hurt no education no job and won't come home the icing on the cake is that I have a beautiful granddaughter who she will not allow me to see. 3 weeks ago today I was able to see and touch and kiss her for the first time. Needless to say it has been a trying three weeks because we live in different states and I miss them both dearly. So in rereading the scripture today I am going to line it up with my daughter's name Diamond that she will talk to me and my granddaughter's name Kamaya and I'm going to believe the word of God that I will be able to see, hold, and spend some time with Kamaya in 6 weeks when I attend my annual family reunion in North Carolina. Pray for me and I will share the update in August..
Event though this blog was written a while ago, it met me at my need today!!
Thank you all in advance for your prayers.

  28. I like many entered Habakkuk 2:2-3 into the search engine and you came up. I didn't now what to write but since you wrote whatever comes to mind, that is what I'm going to do. Also while reading your blog the Lord reminded me to put in that the Book is going to become a movie.
Thank you for your inspiration. One book down two to go with many products.

  30. Wall the power of writing the vision down and how it will inspire other who will read it.I have s tumbled up this blog today and was really blessed as it was a confirmation to me. At an appointed time it will happen, it will not tarry. Thank you very much and i trust that all those things that you wrote about five years back have come into fruition

  31. Someone recently as me if "Write it down make it plain was in the scripture, I replied "yes" but didn't exactly know at the time where/what scripture. I was 100% sure that it is scriptural. So, I also typed in "write down make it plain" and found all of us here...by Divine appointment of course...all going through transitions...me personally I feel that I have not come this far in my life and at the age of 56 soon to be 57 years young in transition from family that has disowned me. Many failed business' and wrong relationships and marriages.

Helping to encourage and others achieve there dreams and visions. I have in the past written it down and made it plain.
I know for sure that God ha something, GREAT, Amazing, HUGE, like More that I can think or Imagine kind of thing...You know...This suffering is not in vain!

I'm now waiting for the manifestation of my hopes, prayers, dreams, desires and visions will not tarry much longer but, will become a reality in my life very soon.

I so appreciate all of you for sharing!

Thank You and God Bless each of You. My prayer is that your "write it down make it plain" heartfelt requests be answered by GOD swiftly. Remember to give GOD all the Glory when they come to fruition. Kisses, Sandra

    2. blessed to have a wife committed to the Lord whom God has chosen for me.

    3. Being blessed serving God, the homeless, and a Holy-Spirit led environment.

    4. Have a wonderful and affordable home filled with God's loving presence, peace, and open space.

    5. Received blessings from God helping the homeless at a national level.

6.Traveling to bless those in need of God's word, work, and his provisions.

    7. Becoming the largest cleaning service in the state of Colorado with God's help in Jesus name.

    8. Being an active church member serving God.

9.Continue serving the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul.

    10. Living a life that God wants me to live that will be a blessing to those in need.

    11. Help others grow in the Lord and business.

    12. Start a homeless shelter for those in need in Jesus name.

  33. I found myself again looking for the scripture a family member had told me about year ago , and I came to your article I'm very confused /lost in my life right now.I have so much VISION till I'm overwhelmed an even slightly DEPRESSED not having anywhere to go.Im recently divorced thru fault of my own, but I know JESUS is a forgiven Father, but it get really hard sometimes to really forgive yourself I don't have a lot of people to talk to (honestly) In think my church home is judgmental, but it could be Me allowing the devil to cast a veil of Shame for my past Im just lost Im , but Though continual searching his word I BELIEVE he's gonna show UP for me...God Bless you all BEAUTIFUL ARTICLE as well as COMMENTS

  34. I too, like the many other commentors found your blog, while seeking a work of knowledge for direction.

The first time the scripture "write it down and make it plain" spoke to me was while watching an interview of CC Winnans and her husband and they were speaking about starting their own church. Shortly afterwards my pastor also spoke of it during a sermon. Since then, it has always been in my thoughts.

I have realized that the Lord has been speaking to me for awhile, but I have not been listening. I have been a part of a prayer line that also encourages listeners at the beginning of the year to write down 5 prayer request at the beginning of the year and present them before God each year with the faith that if it is in his will and his desire for our lives, it will come to past. This past year, he also spoke of writing it out and presenting your plan to God.

Specifically, for the past 3 years, I have been struggling with my next steps in life, not to go before God, but also to step out in faith at the appointed time. It so easy to become depressed, confused and overwhelmed. In my questioing and seeking God, there are several surpressed desires, talents and interest that have surfaced and now I feel paralized by over analyzing my thoughts reluctant to take a step anywhere.

I woke up at 2:30 this morning with a small voice saying get a tablet write down your thoughts and I will speakk to you. It took me an hour or so, but I did obey. My first thought was to pray a scripture to be lead by a scripture. In doing so, I noted I have been studing Habakkuk for the past 3 days and had noted to study chapt 2 more intensly today. What has effected me most in your article is the reference to "tarrying". The past 3 years, I have learned how to wait on God peacefully, "most times". However, I struggle with am I waiting out of fear, resistence to move or obedience. Stepping out of Faith is taking that first step and trusting God to do the rest, one step at a time. Narrowing down the focus to choose God's desire for our life, not necessarily "your" desire is also major. I feel this encouter is spirit lead and I thank you for sharing. May God bless you in all your endeavors.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11. Thank you Laylasmom for your wonderful blog. I too have been spiritually instructed to "Write the Vision". The Holy Spirit instructed me to write the vision about 15 years ago. I was told to write it because I was going to be a successful business owner and the vision would keep me focused and on track. At that time I grabbed hold to the confirmation and immediately started looking for the business that would catapult me and my family into the world of financial security. I figured out what my gift and talent was, I worked to perfect my gift to the best of my ability and fifteen years later I am financially depleted and fearful of total financial ruin. Honestly I am about two paychecks away from being homeless, all because I did not write the vision and refer to it for direction. I am not discouraged or downtrodden, God has been faithful to me even when I have been negligent and disobedient. He has not taken away my gift or skills, he has been very patient with me. I have known about the Habakkuk 2:1-3 scripture for most of my life but it has been just in the last two months that I realize the urgency and the importance of applying the precept. I know now that it is a concentrated effort to take the time to write my vision and an unwavering commitment to implement it. I also know that if I do my part God will certainly do his. Case in point, your blog was written over six years ago and it is still reaching those whom God has intended for it to reach. Today I will complete the task of writing my vision. I already have it etched in my mind but in obedience to my Lord I will commit it to paper and frame it for my wall. And I know for every greeting card I produce and sale from this day forward, it will move my business partner and I closer to our dream of producing greeting cards and personalized sentiments that will touch the hearts of millions. I will write the vision so that my children and grandchildren will know that their mother and grandmother stood on the word of God and his word did not return unto Him void. To God be the glory and may He bless you and all of those who have responded to your blog with blessings that are overflowing and may you be full of unspeakable joy.
